St. Kevin's are proud to be a Gaisce Award Partner and we have a strong tradition of supporting students with their Gaisce activities. Students from second year onwards have the option of undertaking their Bronze, Silver or Gold award.
Transition Year 2025 – Gaisce
This year we got to complete our Bronze or Silver Gaisce award. We had to complete 13 weeks for Bronze and 26 weeks for Silver in Community Involvement, a Personal Skill and a Physical Activity. We did things such as training school teams, helping at homework club, going training, playing an instrument, or learning a new language to complete this. We also got to complete an overnight adventure hike as part of our award. We stayed for one night and hiked 25km for the Bronze award or stayed 2 nights and hiked 50km for the Silver award. We stayed in the Glendalough Hostel. We got to spend time with our friends and got to know each other better while staying in the hostel. We all really enjoyed the trip even though our bodies were sore by the end. The process of completing the award was very enjoyable, when we filled out our record sheet, we could see the progress we were making.
