Primary Transition

Primary School Transition

Moving from Primary to Secondary school is a big milestone in a young person's life. Your child may be apprehensive about this change, in order to prepare students for this step, we have a number of supports available. Having information about the practicalities in advance of starting school can help to reassure students.

Information night for parents at the entrance assessment - Wednesday 29th January 2025

Welcome night for parents/guardians of incoming first years - Monday 18th August, 7:00pm

Friendship Day for first years and Prefects - Wednesday 20th August, 9:00am - 13:15pm (Uniform not required)

Induction Day for first years - Friday 22nd August, 9:00 - 12:30pm

During Friendship day first year students will meet with sixth year Prefects as part of the mentoring programme. First years will have mentor meetings with the Prefects at regular intervals during first year. The mentoring programme is invaluable in assisting students to navigate their transition into secondary school. Friendship day consists of a number of activities to foster team building and encourage students to make new friends as they change schools.

During Induction day students will meet their class tutor and yearhead Ms Barker. Students will have their photographs taken for the TYRO platform and timetables, journals and lockers will be distributed. Students will be given general information about the school including a tour of the school grounds.

Education passports from the Primary school generally arrive to the school in mid October, if there is information you wish to share with us prior to this date, please contact the main office 045 406000.
