This week in St. Kevin's we celebrated Science Week 2021. The Science Department organised a series of classroom and lunch-time activities that allowed students and staff to celebrate science in their everyday lives. In class students considered the physics of flight and aerodynamics by trying to build a paper aeroplane and beat the world record of keeping their aeroplane in flight for more than 27 seconds, using nothing but an A4 sheet of paper. Fun lunch time experiments included making density bottles, sugar columns and copper sulphate crystals, we also made cell models and looked at the pH scale. There were also science themed quizzes during tutorial and class time. Students have also began to brainstorm ideas for the Young Scientist competition for 2023, after the success we enjoyed in the competition this year.
